Let’s Face It: Life Can Be Hard. When life knocks us off our feet and into the muck, it sometimes feels impossible to climb out. In fact, the harder we fight, the deeper we sink. But when we can shift our energies and perspective, we find the leverage we need. Inspired by dozens of writing workshops for cancer patients, domestic violence survivors, and others seeking inner truth, Writing Through the Muck offers thoughtful insight and encouragement for anyone who treasures happiness, peace of mind, and holistic wellness. G. Elizabeth Kretchmer’s compassionate prose and concise chapters are perfect for busy readers and writers of all experience levels. In addition, her willingness to share many of her own experiences in the muck—including multiple moves, broken relationships, alcoholism, and cancer, as well as her journey climbing out and moving on—will undoubtedly spark your desire to start writing. All profits will be donated to organizations supporting cancer patients, domestic violence survivors, and the environment.

G. Elizabeth (Gail) Kretchmer is the author of two novels, a short story collection, and numerous essays and articles which have appeared in The New York Times and other publications. Her latest work, Writing Through the Muck: Finding Self and Story for Personal Growth, Healing, and Transcendence, is a labor of love inspired by dozens of wellness writing workshops she’s facilitated over the years. A former resident of Bend, she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from Pacific University and now lives in the Seattle area with her husband, two dogs, and a cat who struggles with authenticity because she knows, deep down, that she’s really a dog.

Kate Huck is a desultory poet whose most recent publications include work on Gyroscope Review and the anthology, Last Call: The Anthology of Beer, Wine, and Spirit Poetry. Her current role as carer doesn't give Huck time for Italian travel, so she makes do with occasional visits to the canal inside the Las Vegas casino, The Venetian.
